this photo shows how america tries to police the world and tell everyone what to do, and all other main countries act like everything is ok, yet they have guns with burdens on them in their pants. Each country is acting like they agree, yet they hold grudges. this is a logos argument, it appeals to the logic of the situation, and exposes the feelings of the author.

I find it interesting that the guy representing the US does not have a gun in his back pocket. Also, the fact that he is taller than the rest could convey that he is supposed to be looking over the rest of the people. I agree with wade that it appeals to logos and that the guns represent grudges.
This political cartoon makes a really good visual argument. I agree with Elle in that it is interesting that the guy representing the U.S. doesn't have a gun and that he is taller than everyone else. This obviously represents a sense of superiority. Wade also made a good point about these countries holding grudges. I'm wondering who the man holding the "everlasting peace" booklet is. He is obviously supposed to represent some kind of force that works with the U.S. in "policing" the world...maybe the U.N.? It would be interesting to know the context of this cartoon to see how each of the parts could apply to the situation. I agree with Wade that this example appeals to logos over ethos and pathos.
Along with what has already been said, not only is the US guy taller, but he also looks older, with a bear and white hair. This could represent the fact that the US is supposed to be wiser and therefore does not see a need to carry a weapon.
